Brief Report on the Clumber Park Duathlon from 22nd March...

I did the Sprint event, which was a 5K run, 20K bike and 2.5K run. There is also a Standard distance option, which is double the above.

Despite all sorts of physio action my ankle was still quite knackered (although better than at Stathern), so running wasn't that fun, but it was a good event all the same. Lovely setting, quite a lot of traffic on the bike - both four and two wheeled as there were about 900 competitors across the two events.

I was 74th out of 362 starters in the Sprint event (14th in my age category), which isn't too shabby for me as this was a World Champs qualifier, so there were a lot of very decent folk doing it.

Total time was 01:06:07. The winner did it in 00:56:21, which means he was crossing the finish line as I started the second run!

I think I'll take a few weeks off running. My next duathlon will be...

Prestwold Hall on 27th April
I think this is a new one - I've certainly not done it before or heard of it.

It's on the circuit, so no other road users to content with and there are different events (and distances) for different age groups. Anyone else fancy it?

I've had to pull out of the Prestwold Duathlon this coming weekend due to family commitments (and losing an argument with my lovely wife!).

Next duathlon will be the standard distance Grafham Water Duathlon on 18th May - good event, did it last year. I might also be able to sneak in a sprint duathlon at Silverstone on 14th May - another good one. Short but brutal and fund hooning around the motor racing circuit.
